Acting. Tuesdays. 3:30-6:00. Create compelling performances for audiences by learning the tools of the actor.
Playwriting. Wednesdays. 3:30-6:00. Deepen your ability to move an audience through words. Share the power of your voice.
WHAT: YPT is now accepting applications for our Spring 2010 Young Playwrights’ Workshop. Apply now to be a part of a select group of artists working as an ensemble after school. Choose Acting or Playwriting (or both!). You will also be expected to attend Theater Appreciation (including performances and professional sessions) on Mondays. Full list of dates TBD.
WHERE: YPT’s Headquarters, Josephine Butler Parks Center, 2437 15th Street NW, Washington, DC 20009.
WHEN: January 11 - June 16 (except during Spring Break and DC CAS Testing).
WHO: Students who are currently enrolled in DC schools in grades 8-12 may apply.
HOW: New students must submit the application along with a sample of their writing (preferably a short scene or monologue) by January 7, 2010. Applications may be submitted via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or in person to YPT’s headquarters. Select interviews will be held on JANUARY 14 and 15, 2010.
COMMITMENT: We value your commitment to the creative process and collaborative work. Selected students will be asked to sign a contract along with their parents or guardians. Students will receive a stipend at the end of the process, dependent on their active participation and attendance. Students are expected to participate in at least two days of programming per week for a maximum stipend of $200. Students who elect to participate in three days of programming could earn up to $300.
